Siemens to extend amnesty offer
ÈÕÆÚ£º2008-2-14    µã»÷£º2171

Munich, 2008-Jan-31

In a one-time move, Siemens is extending its amnesty offer in the area of public-sector corruption by one month. The offer, which currently expires on January 31, will now remain in effect until the end of February. In the last few weeks, the large number of additional inquiries received has increased substantially. For this reason, Siemens wants to provide more employees with an opportunity to make use of the amnesty and further facilitate clarification.

To date, 66 employees have come forward in connection with the amnesty program. In addition, a large number of employees are currently receiving information about the program. 54 cases are now under review. So far, 2 applications for amnesty have been rejected and 10 granted. ¡°The amnesty program has been very successful. We¡¯re pleased that so many employees have made use of the program and are thereby expediting clarification,¡± said Peter Y. Solmssen, member of the Managing Board and General Counsel of Siemens AG.

In November 2007, Siemens announced an amnesty program relating to possible violations of anti-public-corruption laws in order to expedite the independent investigation and facilitate clarification. Under the amnesty, the company will not make claims for damages or unilaterally terminate employee relationships. However, Siemens reserves the right to impose lesser disciplinary measures.
